The annual Pan Asian Alumni BBQ will be at Crissy Field in San Francisco and will feature alumni from Stanford and 8 other universities including UPenn, Yale, Columbia, Harvard, and more. The ticket price includes hamburgers, hot dogs, vegetarian options, and tons of snacks and other goodies. Come have fun and meet fellow alums!

Stanford in Entertainment Bay Area is proud to announce a dance demonstration by New York-based choreographer Parijat Desai, '92, at the SF Asian Art Museum on Thursday, May 6, followed by a reception with the performers.
  • "Rewiring the Body: Indian Classical Dance Meets Postmodern"
  • A Lecture/Demonstration by Parijat Desai with Stanford Dancers

New York-based choreographer Parijat Desai will present excerpts of her work blending Indian classical and American postmodern dance. Desai will discuss movement origins and ideas behind her work and reflect on the creative process. Seven dancers from Stanford will perform "Rewired," which Desai staged as an artist-in-residence at Stanford last year, with Dance Professor Diane Frank co-directing.

Following the performance, all Stanford alumni and their guests are invited to a reception with Desai the performers at Cafe Asia, located in the museum. Appetizers and soft drinks are on SIE; additional food and alcohol will be available for purchase.

Beautify the Mural Music & Arts Project - East Palo Alto

Work in partnership with Mural, Music and the Arts Project in East Palo Alto to ready their new facilities for the services they provide to youth and the local community. Volunteers participated in beautification projects including painting, planting, creating signage, and light carpentry work.

The Asian American Theater Project (AATP) restages David Henry Hwang’s career-launching play, “FOB.” Originally produced in 1978 in Junipero (now Okada House) by founding members of AATP, “FOB” went on to premier on Off-Broadway and win an Obie Award. Following the matinee show, award-winning playwright David Henry Hwang ’79 and original “FOB” cast and crew members Hope Nakamura ’82 and Nancy Takahashi Hatamiya ’81 reminisce about the beginning of Asian American theater at Stanford. Moderated by co-founding member Lisa Pan ’81.

Meet the panelists and have your copy of “FOB” signed by original “FOB” cast and crew members! Look back on 30 years of Asian American theater at Stanford through our history display. Refreshments provided.

SAPAAC is collecting flyers, programs, newsletters, props, pictures, etc. from alumni and students as part of its Asian American History Preservation initiative. If you have any of these items, please contact Ron Nakao. After the FOB events, these materials will be preserved in Stanford University Library’s archives.

2010 PASU 20th Anniversary Reunion
From Friday, January 29, through Sunday, January 31, PASU alumni enjoyed reconnecting with one another, special guests, and current students on campus for a weekend of "Celebrating Pamilya."

2009 SAPAAC Alumni Winter Day of Service
On Dec 5, 2009, enthusiastic alumni, family members, and Stanford parents participated in our excursion to help the Second Harvest Food Bank in San Jose sort thousands of pounds of food items for low-income households in the Bay Area.

2008 SAPAAC Holiday Volunteer Service Event
On Dec 20, 2008, SAPAAC members got together to assemble winter care packages to be distributed to the homeless of San Jose. It was a great gesture and a fun time!
