The Stanford Asian & Asian American Alumni Summit

Save-the-Date!  The inaugural Stanford Asian Pacific Alumni Summit with the theme “Voices Rising” is set for March 31-April 1, 2017 on the Stanford campus.

This groundbreaking event will enable alumni to learn from and connect with others, to find opportunities for collaboration, and to have fun! We're committed to making a real impact among our fellow alumni, the University, and our community by providing a truly unique space for networking beyond our ‘regular’ circles, sharing experiences and insights in a low key environment. We also hope to use the opportunity of being together to: 1) challenge stereotypes; 2) examine how we individually and collectively view issues and solutions from the lens of our ethnicity; and 3) seek consensus for proactive paradigm change about what it means to be Asian, Pacific Islander, or Asian American in tomorrow’s world.

Update on the first half of 2016

Besides setting a date, we have organized committees and started to assemble panels around the challenging issues, questions and conundrums facing our communities. We have also begun planning social events to give you the additional opportunity to connect while we are together on campus. Some panel topics identified by our alumni survey as being of key interest to our alumni include: 1) Asian American history at Stanford and beyond; 2) leadership development; and 3) opportunities to effect change.

What are our plans for the next six months?

We will be conducting a worldwide outreach effort to Stanford alumni via email, social media, and good, old-fashioned phone calls. We are continuing to plan social, intellectual, and cultural events for the Summit. We will reach out several times between now and late October when registration will open, and will ask for your assistance as fellow alumni who can contribute mightily to the success of the Summit.

We’re building a network through which we can reach every Asian alumnus and alumna and you can help us succeed. If you enjoy social media or copywriting, are willing to make a few phone calls or help out in other ways on behalf of the Summit, we would appreciate your assistance!   There are many opportunities to have fun while meeting fellow alumni interested in supporting our growing, worldwide Asian and Asian American community.
