Chinese Laborers at Stanford: Community Listening Session

This listening session represents an important step in acknowledging and honoring the foundational role Chinese laborers played in Stanford’s history. From building the transcontinental railroad for the Central Pacific Company to maintaining the grounds on Stanford campus (including planting all the palms on Palm Drive), Chinese laborers have played an integral role in Stanford University’s history. Last year, the University initiated a task force of administrators, faculty, students, and alumni charged with reviewing the contributions of Chinese laborers and making recommendations on how best to recognize and honor their contributions. Join SAPAAC for a virtual community listening session with task force members who would like to hear from alumni on their thoughts, feelings, and stories about the history of Chinese laborers at Stanford.
