Open Letter to a Burned-Out Intern

Dr. Sonia Singh ‘08, a physician and Stanford alumna, has written a letter to young doctors joining a profession with a hectic schedule, grueling work hours, and patients’ lives on the line—all of which can contribute to a feeling of burnout. She calls this a “message I wish I’d had,” when first embarking on her own journey into medicine. The article was published in the Annals of Internal Medicine this week. As a number of SAPAAC members are in healthcare, we wish to share Dr. Singh’s letter with you, in hopes of extending a message of encouragement and gratitude to all the inspiring doctors among us.
